Reading Your Results

Important
Read the result between 15 and 20 minutes after performing the test. Do not interpret the result after 20 minutes. Always follow the Instructions for Use supplied with the test.

Reactive result
Two coloured lines are visible in the testing cartridge: one in the control (C) area and one in the test (T) area. The test line may be weaker or stronger than the control line. Any visible test line together with a valid control line should be treated as a reactive result.

Reactive HIV test result

A reactive HIV self-test result does not by itself confirm an HIV diagnosis. Appropriate confirmatory testing by a healthcare professional or testing service is required.

Non-reactive result
One coloured line is visible in the control (C) area and no coloured line is visible in the test (T) area. This is interpreted as a non-reactive result.

Non-reactive HIV test result

A non-reactive result does not completely exclude HIV infection, particularly after a recent possible exposure or when testing during the applicable window period. Repeat testing may be necessary depending on when the possible exposure occurred.

Invalid result
The result is invalid if no control (C) line appears, regardless of whether a line is visible in the test (T) area. Do not interpret an invalid result.

Invalid HIV test result

Repeat the test using a new test cassette and follow the Instructions for Use carefully. If invalid results persist, follow the manufacturer's guidance or contact the distributor.

Step 1

Before taking the test, gargle gently with warm boiled water.

Step 2

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water.

Step 3

Take the test pipette and the cartridge out of its packaging and place it flat on a level surface.

Step 4

Open the testing solution tube and place it in the holder in the test box, keeping the tube upright and being careful not to spill any of the liquid.

Step 5

Take the sterile swab out of its packaging, tear it open using the notch, and peel it open from the handle end. Be careful not to touch the sampling end of the swab.

Step 6

Wipe the sampling end of the sterile swab gently along the upper gums from one corner of the mouth to the other. Then slowly wipe back along the upper gum line - this should take around 5 - 6 seconds.

Step 7

Rotate the swab 180 degrees so the other side of the sampling end of the swab will make contact with your lower gum line.

Step 8

Wipe the sampling end of the swab gently along the lower gum line from one corner of the mouth to the other, then slowly back again.

Step 9

Place the sampling end of the swab into the testing solution tube and rub the swab up and down inside the tube in the liquid, 6-8 times.

Step 10

Remove the swab from the testing solution tube pressing the tip against the side of the tube to remove any excess liquid.

Step 11

Use the pipette to take a sample of the liquid from the testing solution tube.

Step 12

Using the pipette add 4 drops of liquid to the sampling well of the test cartridge. Make sure you’re dropping liquid and not air bubbles into the sampling well.

Step 13

Set a timer and wait for 15 minutes before reading your results. Do not read your results after 30 minutes.

Step 14

After 15 minutes you can read your results in the window section of the test cartridge, with lines appearing in the control (C) area and/or the test (T) area. Please see the Reading Your Results section to understand your results.
